Incorporated in
1976, the council contracts with the State of Connecticut
Department of Public health as the designated area-wide
planning and coordinating agency for emergency medical
services.
In addition to the
planning function, the Regional EMS Councils were charged
with the continuous monitoring and evaluation of local
emergency medical services, and inventorying of all
personnel, facilities, and equipment within the Region
related to the delivery of EMS pursuant to the guidelines
established by the Commissioner of the Department of
Public Health.
